Pike Road Pillow Company to Sponsor Year End Award!

Pike Road Pillow Company will sponsor a year end award for the highest average dressage score for an Off Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) in dressage. Competitors must be a member of MADCTA at the time scores are earned, and they can be earned at schooling or recognized shows for 2009. A minimum of three scores is required. If there are no eligible OTTBs for dressage-only, event riders can submit their dressage scores from USEA events.
Off Track Thoroughbreds can make reliable, athletic, and expressive dressage mounts. Traditionally, many OTTBs move into second careers as hunters, jumpers, or eventers. Dressage is a sport that is good for all horses, and we wish to encourage more competitors to pursue dressage with their OTTBs.

Pike Road Pillow Company offers fine equestrian pillows, accessories, and décor for the discriminating equestrian. A full line of products is available at www.PikeRoadPillowCo.com. The award will be presented at the MADCTA End of the Year Banquet. For complete details concerning this award, please contact Shannon McGlon at goldendiv@yahoo.com.

A letter from the MADCTA President

MADCTA Strategic Plan 2009

Goals for this year to be effected by the appropriate committees.

1) We need to actively raise funds, to finance the activities of the Club. For example, running the club web site/newsletter, year end awards, social functions, clinics and educational activities/scholarships.

2) We need to do a better job of promoting the clubs activities, and the benefits of membership.
To achieve these goals we need to consider doing the following.

- Have at least one or two shows as our major fundraisers, and to be able to present the Howard Morris Perpetual trophy (which was not done in 2008) at the fall date.

- Have at least four Social activities, funded by the club; Christmas Party, another Painting Evening, a road trip and a DVD Pizza night. Plan and affect at least two low cost educational events for the membership – pace days, or lectures. Any other suggestions welcomed.

- Install content of value, on the web site, in a timely manner.

- Start a news page on the site, updated at least four times this year.

- Develop and publicize a Calendar of Events, listing local activities (for example, clinics and shows) and promoting
local barns and show facilities.

- Pursue, in a timely manner, sponsors for the Year End Awards

- Continue to try to increase membership.

Long Term Goals

- To research, plan, and effect at least one clinic or educational L judge (USDF), or Recognized Instructor
Program (USEA or USDF) component, for 2010.

- To investigate other services to the community and membership – such as putting together First Aid Kits,
raising money for the Humane Society or Low Cost Spay- Neuter Clinic.

I hope that you will be as excited to start achieving these goals as I am.

Wishing you many happy hours in the saddle,

Lorna

2009 is here and MADCTA is ready!!

After a lot of work done by your elected officials in 2008, expect 2009 to be GREAT!!

The AGM is January 26th at Drew Phillips house. Contact Lorna for directions.

MADCTA has already scheduled THREE shows for the coming year. March 21, May 23 and the Howard Morris show for October 31.

A new calendar is in the works for the website but not ready for prime time, expect to see it soon with all the MADCTA and local shows/clinics on it.

We are working towards getting the newsletter going again. If you would like to volunteer your services to writing articles or putting the newsletter together, email Will Rottgering and I'll help get you in touch with the right people.

Look forward to seeing new bios for our new board members after the AGM. We've got a lot of new friends looking to help lead us into the future and we'd love for you all to get to know them!
